The Graveyard of Audio Files
Open your "Voice Memos" app. What do you see?
- "New Recording 14"
- "New Recording 15"
- "New Recording 16"
It is a graveyard of information. You know there is brilliance buried in there, but you will never find it. You can't search it. You can't skim it.
This is a Voice Memo. It is raw data container.
What is a Voice Note?
A Voice Note (in the AI era) is:
- Transcribed: The audio is turned into text.
- Summarized: The fluff is removed. The point is extracted.
- Tagged: It knows it's about "Project X" or "Client Y".
- Actionable: It pulls out the to-dos.
The Usability Gap
A user of Voice Memos says: "I hope I remember which file that idea was in."
A user of Voice Notes says: "Search for 'marketing budget'."
Moving from Capture to Retrieval
The goal of note-taking isn't to have the note. It is to be able to use the note later.
Voice Memos utilize storage. Voice Notes utilize intelligence.
If you are just recording audio, you are just delaying the work of typing it out later. If you use AI Voice Notes, the work is done for you.
